Fees

As of April 1, 2023, I charge $240.00 for sessions before 3:00pm, and $255.00 for sessions at or after 3:00pm and on Saturdays.  When you ask to prepay for five sessions, the lower rate of $240.00 applies no matter when your appointments are scheduled.

I accept credit cards, HSA account cards, and Flex Spending cards.  Payment is due at the time of the appointment.  I keep a card on file for you, and you are charged in the morning before your appointment. If you wish to submit to your insurance company to receive reimbursement, I will provide you a receipt with all the information needed.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have about payment, or if you wish to make arrangements to pay by cash or check: laura@therapymplsmn.com

AFTER 3:00PM $255.00

Working with a Fee for Service Provider

When we work together you’ll be charged in the morning before your appointment using a card on file. I do not work directly with insurance companies and am out of network for all insurance plans.  If you wish to use your insurance benefits, I will provide you a detailed receipt with all of the information you need to submit for reimbursement of out of network benefits.  Though benefits vary from insurance provider to insurance provider, typically people must reach their deductible and are then reimbursed a significant portion of the cost of our appointments; this rate varies from plan to plan, too—from 0 to 100%.  Please check with your health insurance provider for details about your plan and its requirements and benefits.  You’ll want to ask what your deductible is, and what they will reimburse you if you meet with an out of network provider. Using your out of network benefits allows you to select the therapist you wish and to potentially reduce the cost of your therapy.  Sometimes—particularly if you have a high deductible—the cost to you of meeting with in network and out of network providers may be the same.

Most of my clients choose to pay privately for appointments.  Working privately allows you to work with the therapist you choose as often as you choose, to keep all of your information completely private (unless you expressly grant permission in writing or it’s required by law), and to avoid any diagnosis of a mental disorder becoming part of your health records.

I devote my time and energy to being fully present with my clients and trust that this focus and dedication will be evident in our work together.

The No-Surprises Act

Required notice to clients and prospective clients paying privately for appointments:

As of January 1, 2022, under the No-Surprises Act law, at the start of treatment or at your request, healthcare providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services.  This legislation is designed to protect people from receiving surprise bills, particularly following emergency care.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

According to our therapy agreement, you will be charged for each session before your appointment, so you will not receive bills for our sessions.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
